Kush Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 (edited) Hi I'm using Valorant as my main Sens/FOV (Default FOV Type: Hdeg 16:9) Switching to other games some older games FOV Type defaults to Hdeg 4:3 (CSGO / L4D2 for example) I'm trying to have a 1:1 pixel ratio but unable because of the FOV Type defaults conflicting Switching Hdeg 4:3 to 16:9 lets me find the 1:1 Value, but when I swap the FOV Type back to 4:3 it changes the value Example: (Val 16:9) VFOV 70.5328 HFOV 103 (Default L4D2 Hdeg 4:3) VFOV 73.739795 HFOV 106.260205 (L4D2 Hdeg 16:9 with Val FOV) VFOV 70.5328 HFOV 103 (L4D2 Hdeg with Val FOV set back to 4:3) VFOV 70.532801 HFOV 103 I use a 1920x1080p 24inch 16:9 monitor Does this mean I should set FOV Type as Hdeg 16:9 for every game? or how does this work? Kush Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 (edited) how come the vfov value is uneven (tiny difference just wondering if it has any affect) auto on 103 fov - val fov type Hdeg 16:9 - l4d2 fov type Hdeg 4:3 VALORANT - Hipfire Sensitivity 1: Sensitivity: Aim 0.35 360° Distance: 46.6531 centimeters Pixel ratio: 0.3265 pixels/count Config FOV: Field of View: 103 .Enter Target FOV Actual VFOV: 70.5328 degrees Actual HFOV: 103 degrees Left 4 Dead 2 - Hipfire Sensitivity 1: sensitivity "1.113636" 360° Distance: 46.6531 centimeters Max discrepancy: 0% (0 centimeters) Pixel ratio: 0.3265 pixels/count Config FOV: fov_desired "86.631971" Actual VFOV: 70.532801 degrees Actual HFOV: 103 degrees Edited September 6, 2023 by Kush
Kush Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 (edited) if i change left 4 dead 2's fov type to Hdeg 16:9 and enter 103 it evens out vfov for both games but i dont get a new fov value - so idk confused is the fov and sens still exactly 1:1 or slightly off (taking my sens from val to left 4 dead 2) with the vfov having an extra 01 at end Edited September 6, 2023 by Kush
Kush Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 since i use 16:9 should i just manually select Hdeg 16:9 for every game? to make sure the values are 1:1 (or is the vfov value actually uneven or is the sens converter just defaulting as if im using 4:3 aspect for left 4 dead 2)

With more decimals the difference would be even smaller. The Auto FOV gives you the closest match within the limitations of the game.
Kush Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 so left 4 dead 2's original aspect ratio is Hdeg 4:3 (meaning its the default listed on the sens converter) since im using 16:9 monitor - if i swap l4d2's fov type to Hdeg 16:9 - this will show me the exact vfov value im using? or am i actually using 70.532801 degrees (meaning the vfov is slighlty off ingame) or am i using 70.5328 degrees (meaning fov and sens are exactly 1:1)

When you configure the Hdeg 4:3 fot to fov_desired "86.631971" using 6 decimals to get as close as possible to 103 Hdeg 16:9 , you get 70.532801 degrees instead of 70.5328 degrees. Those 0.000001 degrees are 100% negligible, you can't even measure it using scripts so it's in essence exactly the same.
