fixius Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 Hi guys, i'm trying to use the calculator but i think im not doing it the right way.... I'm currently playing Valorant on 23.8 inch, 1080p, 400dpi with 0.8 game sens. My new monitor is 27 inch, 1440p. What are the math that i need to do in order change the game sens, keeping it on 400dpi?
TheNoobPolice Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Interesting question. Regarding the change in resolution, there is no difference unless you are wanting to match a game to your windows desktop cursor or a 2d game. 3D games usually use a yaw/pitch value per count sent from the mouse multiplied by a configurable sensitivity factor - sometimes that is also affected by FOV setting, sometimes that isn't..... but the resolution the game world textures are then rendered in has no bearing on this. Screen size and perceived sensitivity - a different thing. Technically, changing screen size doesn't do anything regarding what the calculator will tell you for conversions, because technically it is the same sensitivity - however, if you change screen size yet sit the same distance from it, it will no doubt feel different for you. There has been some discussion about this here in the past so it might be worth a search to see what was recommended as the best approach.
Drimzi Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 It is the same as using a different fov. The 103 fov image on the new monitor is the same 95.875 fov on the old monitor. The 103 fov image on the old monitor is the same as 109.927 on the new monitor. You have effectively reduced the fov by switching to the new monitor. You can try moving the monitor further back but that doesn't work in my opinion. Change your DPI from 400 to 350 and it will fix the sensitivity for 2D and 3D, or multiply your sensitivity by ~0.89.
Quackerjack Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 (edited) What about this: (its not about Windows Sensitivity just 3D) 24,5 inch, 16:9, 800dpi 27 inch, 16:10 New dpi should be 726. But now we only Calculate the change of the monitor size. Like Drimzi wrote u changed the fov by switching monitor. But what about the change in AR? We learned: 1. Aspect ratio dont change sensitivity 2. FoV affects sensitivity 3. Changing Aspect Ratio changes FoV 4. So Aspect ratio affects sensitivity Yes, only the HFov is affected by this. Example: 16:10 csgo to 16:9 U need a higher sensitivity on 16:9 to reach the edge of ur screen. Mathematically u dont have to higher your sensitivity cause the distance is the same, but i believe your brain fucks with u if u see more on the sides. Edited June 15, 2020 by Quackerjack

Like this, switch between MDH and MDV to match either axis: https://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/?share=577f21f15075dc6b41afd447aa271be2

The VFov should be always the same like in cs?

Valorant is locked to 103 Hdeg Res, so when you add height i just adds more FOV to the height. Same with width, if you go 21:9 your Vfov will be very narrow at 47.36. CSGO is locked to 90 in Hdeg 4:3, so it will keep the vertical FOV the same regardless (unless you go below 4:3). Quackerjack 1
