Black ops 4 to Apex FOV Problems

Recommended Posts

Hello,

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Have played a lot Black Ops 4 and there feels my aim really comfy.

I wanted to start playing Apex a lot.

Black ops 4:

FOV 120

Sens in Game: 8

Mouse DPI: 800

NOW:

Want in Apex:

FOV: 96

Sens in Game should be : "2.402068"  (with Calculator set to 96FOV)

Mouse DPI: 800

BUT NOW THERE ARE A FEW PROBLEMS WITH the Calculator!

Problem one:

Calculator says: i should change in config to:

Config FOV:
cl_fovScale "96.000000"

IN GAME IT IS THEN 110FOV!

PROBLEM TWO:

Calculator only let me go to 94FOV (and even then it doesnt work, becuas it says ingame 110FOV)

if i go to my wanted 96FOV it says:

Calculated sensitivity too low for ADS (AR, LMG, Sniper): -1.333333 (min is 0.01)
Calculated sensitivity too low for 2X Scope: -1.333333 (min is 0.01)
Calculated sensitivity too low for 3X Scope: -1.333333 (min is 0.01)
Calculated sensitivity too low for 4X Scope: -1.333333 (min is 0.01)
Calculated sensitivity too low for 6X Scope: -1.333333 (min is 0.01)
Calculated sensitivity too low for 8X Scope: -1.333333 (min is 0.01)
Calculated sensitivity too low for 10X Scope: -1.333333 (min is 0.01)

Sent three screensots one with FOV 94, one of ingame with eddited config to 94 (says 110) and one with 96 says sens too low for...

You are entering 96 FOV for Apex as a multiplier, that's wrong. Switch the FOV Type to Hdeg 4:3, then enter 96. This will give you the correct cl_fovScale and fix both your problems :)

Or switch the Location for Apex to In-game if you don't want to mess with the config file. Then enter 96 as a multiplier.

i have only left the FOV because you have written in the post before, that it chooses normaly the right FOV.

If i have understand that wrong, WHERE could i know what type of FOV i have to choose for a specific game?

I dont understand why i should now choose Hdeg 4:3? i use a 16:9 monitor noramlly i would think right now, that i have to choose, Hdeg 16:9?

Could u explain me that stuff, only that i finally could set all my games right with right settings.

AWESOME Support from you THANK YOU VERY MUCH

The calculator always switches to the correct FOV Type for the game and location you have selected. Apex uses a completely different FOV in-game and in the config file, so you when you switch location, you also have to enter the value from that location.

So if you want a FOV of 96 Hdeg 4:3, but configure it in the config file you need to set the FOV Type to Hdeg 4:3 and enter 96, then check the output for the correct cl_fovScale to get this exact FOV.

okay but still dont understand WHY "Hdeg 4:3" and not Hdeg 16:9 where do i know what i have too chose? Play on a 16:9 monitor....do you have a tutorial link or something that i could understand this? Its to wired for me...i dont think that the most users know how to set the right FOV "mode"

you say here in an other post:

" Games use a lot of different methods to express FOV, and the correct method for the game/aim you select is automatically chosen. "

BUT "Multi FOV " was automaticly choosen in apex....its sooo confusing to me...i am willing to understand and to read but i cant find anything that helps  me really out....

it is in this cast automaticly WRONG...so shoud i choose

in BO4: Hdeg 16:9  OR hdeg 4:3

in Apex Hdeg 16:9 OR hdeg 4:3 ???

Hdeg 4:3 is simply the measurement method used by the game. This means that the FOV you configure is for the 4:3 portion of your resolution. If you play on 16:9, the extra width will be added on effectively expanding your FOV to almost 112 degrees. If it instead was Hdeg Res, then it would be 96 degrees for both aspect ratios.

So as in the example image here, the red part (4:3) is what you configure in Apex. If you don't play in 4:3, the extra green (for 16:10) or blue (for 16:9) will be added on.

It's not wrong, Apex doesn't really use a set FOV Type in-game or in the config file. It's intended to use 4:3 in-game, but it's slightly off due to lazy coding as previously mentioned.

When the FOV Type is set to multiplier it means that the value you put in must go through some kind of mathematical formula to calculate the actual FOV (which is important to the calculation). So Apex use Hdeg 4:3 as the base, but both in-game and config file values must go through a formula.

BO4 uses Hdeg 16:9, which means the configured FOV is for 16:9 aspect ratio, any other ratio will have the FOV calculated based on this.
