pstN Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 (edited) Hi, I think I have a pretty good understanding of the whole monitor distance vs 360 distance thing, however, I can't seem to find a way to switch from 4:3 to 16:9. Shouldn't it stay the same when going to 16:9? doesn't the screen just become wider? like on here https://i.imgur.com/Zu2AGmX.jpg thanks Edited October 4, 2016 by pstN

So 100% for 4:3 is only 75% for 16:9 etc. What you are asking for is a ratio conversion, which I've been back and forth on including or not. To but it simple, I don't want to make this whole thing too advanced, there's enough options already But quite a few people have been asking for it, so I'll go back to the drawing board!

Wizard DPI Wizard Posted October 4, 2016 Wizard Posted October 4, 2016 thanks for the quick reply I see, so it really wouldn't be the same then? No, a ratio conversion would not in some ways be the opposite. With Monitor Distance the aim is to keep the movement on the monitor the same (i.e. moving to 50% is the same regardless of aspect ratio). While with a ratio conversion, the ratio between the mouse movement and the crosshair movement would be consistent regardless of aspect ratio. Your example is a perfect situation where ratio would be better (and effectively tell you to keep 2.44 as sensitivity )

With 4:3 you have to move your mouse X inches to reach the edge of the monitor. With 16:9 this edge is now at 75% between the crosshair and the new edge (like the pictures you linked show). So the question is, with 16:9 would you like moving the mouse X inches to reach the "old" edge at 75%, or the "new" edge at 100%.

Ahhh I see so monitor distance for muscle memory would be 75%(4:3 edge) right? so if I understand this right, in this case : monitor distance = 360 distance right (and so 2.44 aswell?)
