medge Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveoverwatch/comments/8otdvc/each_increment_of_zoom_sensitivity_accounts_for/ basicly this, am i on the wrong side of the fence here trying to tell these headless noodles what to do? or am i actually telling em what's right? They made me doubt after they kept shit talking to me. I'dd like to see wizard reply to this matter, they are calling your site out for being a "scam" pretty much
Skwuruhl Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Quote Alright I'm probably just taking the bait like everyone else but assuming you aren't trolling here's where you're wrong: 1. This thread isn't even about what zoom sensitivity is best, it's asking for more precise settings. 2. 38, while my preference and recommendation, isn't exactly the same as hipfire, nothing is or can be due to the FOV difference. 3. This image has a couple things wrong with it, which aren't entirely your fault. The "1 inch mouse movement" line is just flat out wrong in many different ways. "Discrepancy" is unclear. It's not "discrepancy between Hipfire and ADS", but rather "discrepancy due to lack of decimal places." E.g. if you could only set zoom sensitivity in sets of 10, the closest to 38 you could set would be 40. This is a discrepancy of 5.2% (40/38~=1.052) @DPI Wizard you probably want to fix or remove the "1 inch mouse movement" thing. No matter what you type in as the match distance, it will say that 1 inch mouse movement will be matched on screen at the same distance. Also the "1 inch mouse movement" changes in hipfire by just changing match distance. For example in the image 1 inch mouse movement in hipfire is supposedly 4.5474 inches, but if you change it to 100% then the same mouse movement in hipfire now supposedly moves crosshair 6.4339 inches.
medge Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 That's what has been bamboozling me, i have constantly went with the 0% for 2nd zooms on everything to match hipfire.

It's the ratio of the match distance (i.e. X inches = Y degrees) converted to physical distance and normalized so the ratios are directly comparable on both sides of the equation. Technically the wording should be something like "The ratio of movement between the mouse and the crosshair to the selected monitor match distance of 75% is 1:21.5237". It's there to make it easier for people to see what value is actually being matched in the calculation, and if it's not perfectly matched how far off it is. But the wording can be confusing indeed, it's probably best changed to base length or something.
Skwuruhl Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Base length still doesn't make sense here. I'm not even really sure what it's supposed to be? I think what would be more clear is something like hipfire Crosshair Movement: 10.4589 inches Mouse Movement: 1.8295 inches Degree Movement: 51.5 degrees ads Crosshair Movement: 10.4589 inches Mouse Movement: 1.8118 inches Degree Movement: 25.5 degrees This way it's somewhat more clear that 10.46 inches on the monitor is a 1.8 inch mouse movement across both zoom levels.

Yeah, base ratio or something would be more fitting. What I initially wanted to avoid was very small numbers as you get with low match %. Like with 1% in your example would be: hipfire Crosshair Movement: 0.1049 inches Mouse Movement: 0.0256 inches Degree Movement: 0.72 degrees ads Crosshair Movement: 0.1046 inches Mouse Movement: 0.0255 inches Degree Movement: 0.27 degrees But this might not be a problem after all
