odi Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Hi guys, I am looking to have a 16inch/360 sensitivity across my games with a DPI of 450 @ 1920x1080. I have been playing Tribes: Ascend (a UE3 engine game) with a sensitivity of 6.826 @ 120FOV. I want to use this same 16in/360 sensitivity for UT4 @ 120FOV. However, when I use the sensitivity converter it does not give me an accurate number for UT4 sens due to this note on the converter: Please note that the sensitivity value is missing from the config file until you have changed it in-game to something other than the default value. These calculations are for the alpha release, and the sensitivity value is for the config file setting. Change aim to calculate sensitivity for the in-game setting. Set the "MouseY" config to the same as "MouseX" if you want the same horizontal and vertical sensitivity. PS! Even though sensitivity for this game is affected by FOV, these calculations are only correct for default FOV at the moment. The calculator is not taking into account that I want to use 120FOV and is using the default value of 100, throwing off the sens value. How can I figure out what value I need to achieve my desired result in UT4? Do I need to pay for the advanced calculator to help me figure this out? Thanks.

odi Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 I will make it work with FOV in the next big update Thanks for that. Do you know how far off that fix is? Would paying for the advanced tool help me figure out my sens faster? I've been playing with some sens that is slower than 16in/360 and have been getting frustrated, and that was me 'going by feel' and just trying numbers in the options menu. Currently using 1.3 sens and it's just too slow.
Wizard DPI Wizard Posted October 14, 2015 Wizard Posted October 14, 2015 If you give me the details you put in, I can do an offline calculation for you right now A screenshot of the calculator is enough.
odi Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 I you give me the details you put in, I can do an offline calculation for you right now You're awesome. The math behind the calculator is over my head. Sensitivity: 16 inches / 360 DPI: 450 Res: 1920x1080 FOV: 120 Tribes Ascend: (UE3 engine. Equals 16in/360) FOV: 120 In-game Sens: 6.826 Unreal Tournament 4: (I want 16in/360 here too) FOV: 120 In-game Sens: ???? Thanks.
odi Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) Drumroll.... 0.018752 I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to help me with this. There is something not right here. That number .018752 yields an approximate sens of 45in/360 (using the method of: put crosshair on defining feature in-game and move it across mousepad slowly until I do a 360 and land on that point again). I remembered that I could roughly measure the 'old-fashioned way' as described above. So I loaded up Tribes, where I know my sens values are correct for achieving 16in/360 and marked those points on my mousepad. Then I booted up UT4 and did the same thing and kept adjusting the sens values until my mouse made the same distance movement on my mousepad for Tribes as it did in game for UT4 to do a 360. The UT4 sens that allowed me to get closest to what I felt in Tribes turned out to be 1.6. Odd eh? Here's the UT4 input menu in case you haven't seen it before: Edited October 14, 2015 by odi
Wizard DPI Wizard Posted October 14, 2015 Wizard Posted October 14, 2015 Aha, you're entering it in-game This value was for the file. For in-game it is 1.579191 One note though, I haven't analyzed UT4 for many months, they may have updated something regarding the sensitivity. If it's still way off, let me know, and I'll re-analyze it

You really live up to your name. 1.579191 works great, and turns out the "old-fashioned" method got decently close at 1.6. I appreciate the help man. Is there a donation link? I would like to donate $5, and while I can't do it right now, I will be able to in the next couple weeks once I start my new job. If there is no donation link, I will just subscribe for a couple months when I am able to. Cheers. <3
