RipGroove Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 (edited) My most natural feeling in game sensitivity is BF4 and that's probably due to the "Uniform Soldier Aiming" doing all the fancy calculations in the background for me. So naturally I'm trying to replicate this natural feel to PUBG but I'm having a little difficulty. For reference: Aspect Ratio 21:9 & FOV 55 My actual BF4 mouse 360 distances: General Movement/Hip Fire = 25cm Iron Sight & Red Dot = 41cm 2x Scope = 52cm 4x Scope = 91cm 8x Scope = 158cm 20x Scope = 212cm I'm not set in stone on those distances, that's just what feels natural to me right now. So I spent ages collecting each different scope in PUBG (absolute nightmare as no training or firing range mode) and using the in game sliders to match the 360 distances to the above, which on the face of it should have done the trick BUT it didn't, PUBG just feels weird. The only thing I can put it down to is the difference in FOV, BF has a default of 55 and PUBG is 80 (I think). So am I right in thinking the difference in FOV is what is making things feel weird? Wizard DPI Wizard Posted February 5, 2018 Wizard Posted February 5, 2018 You do it by simple transferring from a specific scope, say BF4 4x, to a specific scope in PUBG, the 4x one, and use 360 distance as conversion method. But yes, this will feel different because scopes with the same power (i.e. 4x) does not necessarily have the same FOV/scaling in different games. So it's much better to use Viewspeed or Monitor Distance.

I basically want BF4 uniform soldier aiming on PUBG, I want everything to feel as natural as it does in BF4 no matter what scope or FOV. I'm new to all this so I'm unsure of the terminology of viewspeed and monitor distance etc So can I achieve what i want by using the calculator here? If so, how? Does the calculator take into account the different FOV levels of PUBG's different scopes? I have no problem paying for premium if I can get it to do what i want. Edited February 5, 2018 by RipGroove

And the value in my PROFSAVE_profile are: GstInput.MouseSensitivity 0.003000 GstInput.SoldierUniformAimingCoefficient 1.333333 GstInput.SoldierZoomSensitivityAll 1.000000 GstInput.SoldierZoomSensitivityCloseRange 1.000000 GstInput.SoldierZoomSensitivityMediumRange 1.000000 GstInput.SoldierZoomSensitivityLongRange 1.000000 GstInput.SoldierZoomSensitivityVeryLongRange 1.000000 GstInput.SoldierZoomSensitivityCloseMagnRange 1.000000 GstInput.MouseSensitivityVehicle 0.270000 GstInput.SoldierUniformAiming 0 GstInput.SoldierZoomSensitivityIronSight 1.000000 And for reference my current mouse DPI is 1600 and my hipfire 360 distance is 25cm (measured with a ruler) Ultimately in PUBG I'd the math written down so I'm able to replicate BF4's Uniform Soldier Aiming myself so that I can fine tune my PUBG hipfire 360 distance over time (aiming for 30cm to start with) and be able to adjust all the other sensitivity settings to maintain the UsA feel. Currently I only play PUBG in 3rd Person at whatever the default FOV is, maybe I should change the in game FOV to suit my 21:9 monitor better? Edited February 6, 2018 by RipGroove

And this should be fine for a 21:9 monitor? I'll go Premium at the weekend then and see what I come up with on the calculator. Is that what 75% monitor matching is: This is my monitor, it has a horizontal screen size of 800mm So if I was to theoretically mark the centre line, and then a mark at 300mm like this: Then tweak all game sensitivity settings for all different scopes so my mouse travels the exact same distance to go from the centre line to the 300mm mark no matter what scope I'm using? Is this essentially what 75% monitor matching is and what your calculator calculates?

Reason I ask is that I read a lot about it being better to just use a 4:3 ratio rather than my actual 21:9 ratio. My initial first thought is that ideally I'd match to my 21:9 monitor... Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 (edited) One year ago I had the same idea, unfortunely ist not working like this because your monitor is flat (I know it's curved but we treat it like it is flat ) and you need the chord length of your games fov to be matched, not your actual Monitor surface. If your monitor is curved in the same way the chord length of your game is curved, then it would work Edited February 7, 2018 by WhoCares?

Very long winded obviously and far too much work for every game and scope combo in my Steam Library! But would that be enough to test the theory before getting my head around the calculator and converting all my games properly?

Always enter the actual resolution of your monitor to make sure the FOV calculations are correct. You can do a few tests to make sure you are setting things up correctly, but it shouldn't be necessary to do it on all games/aims.

Thanks, I'll work off of my actual monitors aspect ratio then and try a few scopes and games matched at the 300mm line. If that all feels OK then I'll dive in to the calculator and try to convert all my games. DPI Wizard 1
